Former Gower College Swansea student Caleb Demery has signed a one-year contract with Swansea City Football Club.
Caleb was previously on the books at Swansea City's Academy before leaving at under-13s' level. Now, after two seasons in Briton Ferry's senior set-up, he rejoins the club following a successful trial towards the end of last season.
Caleb joined the College in 2022 when he enrolled on a BTEC L3 National Extended Certificate in Sport (Football specialism) before progressing to the first year of the BA (Hons) Sport, Coaching & Performance, which is delivered in partnership with Swansea University.
In addition to his studies, Caleb played a key role in the College’s Pro:Direct Academy team.
Earlier this summer, Caleb attended the College’s Annual Student Awards at the Swansea.com Stadium, where he took home the trophy for the Outstanding Sports Achievement of the Year (sponsored by South Wales Transport) for his remarkable success on and off the pitch.
Says Curriculum Leader Andrew Stokes:
“At just 19 years old, Caleb has demonstrated exceptional talent and resilience in Welsh football.
“His contributions to his College football academy were equally impressive. As the top goal scorer, he played a key role in leading the team to its first-ever National League title. His incredible performances continued as the team reached the prestigious National Champions Final in May at Accrington Stanley, where he was named Player of the Match, a testament to his consistent excellence and determination.
“Beyond his technical prowess, Caleb managed to balance his sports career with his education, successfully completing his first year on the new BA Sport programme. His commitment to both academics and athletics speaks volumes about his discipline and ambition.
With such an incredible year behind him, Caleb has not only proven himself to be a top-tier footballer but also a role model for young athletes everywhere. We wish him all the best at Swansea City.”
Everyone at Gower College Swansea is extremely proud of Caleb’s success and we look forward to supporting him in his future career.
