Overview

Knitting is a relaxing and rewarding craft that opens up countless opportunities to create beautiful, handmade items for yourself and others.

In this 10 week course you will learn how to hand knit including how to cast on stitches using knitting needles, how to knit both plain and purl stitches, how to increase and decrease stitches to shape your knitted item and how to case off.

The more experienced knitter will learn a range of knitting techniques to produce cable, lace and coloured effects.

You will learn about abbreviations, how to follow a knitting pattern, how to create a tension square and how to match yarn weight with needle sizes.

You will have the opportunity to create a set of samples and a workbook to store them in and retain as a permanent reminder to aid you working independently in the future.

Key information

There are no entry requirements for this course. 

Classes take place in our small, friendly sewing and design studio at the Llwyn y Bryn Campus, Uplands. With access to a range of sewing equipment, you’ll learn in a relaxed yet inspiring environment.
