Gower College Swansea Housing Student Named UK's CIH Learner of the Year
Dawne Meynell-Western, a housing student from Gower College Swansea, has been named the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) Learner of the Year 2025, a national award that recognises the very best learners and apprentices across all CIH study centres in the UK.
This is the first time the CIH Awarding Organisation has run the competition, aiming to highlight students who have not only excelled academically but have also overcome personal challenges or made a significant impact in their workplace, study centre, or community.

Gower College Swansea’s talented A Level art students recently held an exhibition of their work at the Gorseinon Campus.
The show involved students from fine art, photography, textiles and graphic design (communication).
The occasion was also an opportunity to award the top students from each area.

Former Sport student signs with Swans
Former Gower College Swansea student Caleb Demery has signed a one-year contract with Swansea City Football Club.
Caleb was previously on the books at Swansea City's Academy before leaving at under-13s' level. Now, after two seasons in Briton Ferry's senior set-up, he rejoins the club following a successful trial towards the end of last season.

China trip broadens horizons for staff and students
A group of 10 students have taken part in Gower College Swansea’s first ever mobilities trip to China.
Organised by the College’s International Office with assistance from Taith (which is funded by Welsh Government), the students - who are all following the GCS Honours academic enrichment programme – visited RCF Experimental School in Beijing and Huamei International School in Guangzhou.

Hands-on work experience opportunity for Kian
Gower College Swansea student Kian Lewis-Edwards has recently completed a four-day work experience assignment with Kier that provided him with the kinds of practical, hands-on insight into the construction industry that cannot be taught in a classroom.
The College is working in partnership with Kier to undertake a £20.6 million redevelopment project at the Gorseinon campus, supported by the Welsh Government’s Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme.
